FAQs

If your question isn’t answered here, reach out to us and we’ll make sure you get the info you’re after.

You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers!

  • We’re a mobile dental service for children aged 0 to 17, which means our Oral Health Therapists come to the location that suits you best, whether that’s your home, daycare, or Mother’s Group/Play Group.

We’re passionate about what we do, which is why we integrate education and play into our treatments. Prevention is the best medicine, so we teach kids early about the importance of good dental hygiene and healthy daily habits that lead to long-term optimal oral health.

  • An Oral Health Therapist (OHT) is a highly trained and accredited dental professional with a three-year university degree in Dental Hygiene and Therapy. Their expertise lies in preventing dental disease and supporting families to maintain lifelong oral health. OHTs can care for children and adults, and their scope includes:

    • Check-ups

    • Cleans

    • Preventive treatments

    • Restorations

    • Baby tooth extractions

While Milly is qualified to provide all of these, Molar Bears is currently focusing on screenings and cleans for little cubs. As we grow, we plan to expand the range of services available.

    • 011 - Comprehensive dental exam: $60

    • 114 - Removal of calculus & polish: $100

    • 121 - Topical fluoride: $40

    • 072 - Intraoral Photographic records: $25

That’s a total of $225 per appointment without health insurance. These fees are consistent with the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).

If you're eligible for Child Dental Benefits (CDBS) this service is bulk billed directly to Medicare.

If you have ancillary (dental) cover, your private health fund will cover a percentage of the cost, depending on your insurer and policy.

  • Yes, if your child is eligible for bulk billing under the Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS). You can learn more about the CDBS eligibility requirements here.

  • Once the invoice has been paid, you can claim directly through your private health insurance fund to receive your rebate.

  • At the moment we are only a small team, so we can only travel to suburbs within the Perth Metropolitan area. If you’re not sure, or want to make a special request for a Molar Bears visit outside of the Perth Metropolitan area, feel free to reach out to us.

  • To keep your costs to a minimum we are not charging a call out fee or travel fee and instead seeing home visits in the suburbs where we see the daycares on that day! We will place a call out two weeks prior if we are in your suburb to attend to your cub’s needs.

  • If your daycare has advertised that we are visiting you can book an appointment online in a few easy clicks. Just click here to get started. If you are wanting to book a home visit check our social media to see when we are in your area or contact us to add your suburb to our visit list.

  • We believe your child’s care starts well before the appointment – and the way you talk about the visit makes a big difference.

Try to use positive, encouraging language like:

“Milly can’t wait to see how strong and shiny your teeth are tomorrow.”

“She’s going to count your teeth, use her electric toothbrush, and show you how to brush with her puppets.”

Avoid saying things like “Milly is going to pull your teeth” or “the dentist was mean to me when I was little,” as this can create worry before we even begin.

Even using the words "brave" can be triggering as it sets up a process of "why should I be brave, is it scary?" - keep it simple and light.

Your words help your cub feel safe and confident – and we’ll team up with you to make their experience as fun and comfortable as possible.

Daycare Visits: Please make sure all paperwork is completed before the appointment. Your child will be supported by their educator during the visit.

Home Visits: Please allow space in the driveway for parking and ensure we have safe, clear access to an open area. If pets are nearby, we may ask for extra space or for them to be in another room – this helps us maintain infection control standards. If your child has a sibling, we love involving them and encouraging their curiosity!

  • Once you've booked your appointment, payment of a deposit will secure your spot. If you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment, your deposit will not be refunded.

We do our best to run on time, but if you're running late, let us know, as arriving more than 15 minutes late may incur a cancellation fee.
